About Us

Justice for Children provides legal advice, training and representation for children and their families in the Rift Valley area of Kenya; it does this by funding an office and staff based in Nakuru, Rift Valley Province, Kenya.

There is no legal aid or public funding for criminal or civil cases in Kenya, other than for murder and treason. This means that children and young people generally have no access to legal help when they are involved in criminal matters or if they are in need of care, protection or financial support.

Children are particularly vulnerable because medical and legal services are few and far between. HIV/AIDS is widespread and many children are orphaned early in life. It is common to find children living on the streets drifting into crime and /or needing care and support.

In 2008 Justice for Children directly helped over 2000 children and their families with legal problems and there is a growing demand for its services because the numbers of vulnerable children are increasing; children and their families are becoming more aware of their legal rights and the work and success of the Project is becoming widely known.

The trustees of Justice for Children raise at least £30,000.00 each year to maintain the current level of legal support. We value all assistance, from any source, no matter how small, to help us raise this money all of which goes directly to help the Kenyan children and their families. view our trustees
